Former Aberdeen forward and pundit Charlie Nicholas has incredibly suggested that the Dons approach for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the vacant manager position.
Writing in the Express via the Scottish Daily Express, the ex-Arsenal attacker claimed that the Scottish Premiership side should launch an ambitious attempt to hire Solskjaer following the dismissal of Stephen Glass on Sunday.
Aberdeen have endured a torrid season with the Dandies sat in ninth in the SPL table and out of the Scottish Cup to the hands of Motherwell, with former Hibernian boss Jack Ross and St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin are in the frame for the job.
Yet to Nicholas, the pundit has suggested that Aberdeen make a sensational move to appoint Solskjaer, who was sacked by Manchester United in late 2021 after a poor start to the season in the Premier League.
The former Dons star said: “If Aberdeen really want to make a statement they should go and make an attempt to speak to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. I was thinking about managerial options for my old club and I would love them to go out and make a real statement of intent.”
Nicholas added; “Why not go and ask the former Manchester United manager if he is interested? He can only say no, but if you don’t ask you don’t get.”
Solskjaer to Aberdeen is bold, outrageous, and somehow plausible

After managing a club as big as United, Solskjaer to Aberdeen seems as unlikely as Scotland winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup, yet one quick look at the Norwegian’s past jobs seem to indicate that a move could be plausible.
Whilst the likes of Ross and Goodwin would be much more suited to managing Aberdeen, Solskjaer has succeeded at the likes of Molde, a club many would agree is on par with the Dons, and if the club approach the former United boss, who knows what might happen.
