Jermaine Beckford has shared that he was ‘talking to’ Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani about what it takes to become a manager at the club.
The former striker shared that Jesse Marsch was appointed because his philosophy is ‘very similar’ to the man he replaced at Leeds, Marcelo Bielsa.
It was hard to take for a lot of Leeds fans when the club decided to sack Bielsa, but at the end of the day, they were on a downward spiral that just wouldn’t stop.
From that perspective, as harsh as it was, those in the Leeds boardroom made the right call and that will further be proven if they maintain their Premier League status.
Nonetheless, this is what Beckford had to say about Radrizzani, Bielsa and now the new man in the Elland Road dugout in Marsch, as he told Premier League Productions (25/04/22 at 7:15 pm).
“Well, I was talking to Andrea Radrizzani and a couple of the chief executives at the club about what it takes to become a manager of Leeds United,” said Beckford.
“The philosophy of Jesse Marsch is very similar to Marcelo Bielsa. The work ethic is very similar as well.
“You have to look at all these different things that go hand-in-hand in becoming the manager.
“Making sure everything aligns well. That’s exactly what he did there. Defensively, you could tell straight away that was one of the major issues and that the first thing he decided to sort out.”
If Leeds survive, and they should get the job done even though a few nervy weeks remain.
This forthcoming summer transfer window is going to be big for all involved, especially Radrizzani at the top.
When Bielsa was at the club, he didn’t like to have a big squad, which meant Leeds not spending as much as the fans would have liked.
But how deep will the powers that be dig into their pockets for Marsch remains to be seen because this Leeds squad needs a lot more quality added to it.
