Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Ibrahima Konate has been speaking about playing against Cristiano Ronaldo.
Konate started in the Reds’ 5-0 win at Old Trafford earlier this season, and he faced the daunting prospect of facing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
This was the first time Konate had played against Ronaldo, and he says that he was surprised about the fact he quickly realise the Portuguese attacker is only human like anyone else.
What’s been said?
Konate spoke about playing against Ronaldo.
“It’s the first time I’ve played against him, but I was surprised, because he’s one of the best players in the world, but he’s only human like me, he has two arms and two legs. I had to be focused on my game with the team and it was good and it was ok,” Konate said.

Not an alien
Ronaldo may have scored over 800 goals in his career and he may seem like an alien sometimes, but as we’ve seen this season, he’s only a human.
Konate and Virgil van Dijk dealt with Ronaldo brilliantly, and he didn’t really cause them a problem all afternoon.
Dare we say that Michail Antonio caused the Reds more problems this season than Ronaldo did?
It was certainly an off-day for CR7 and we can imagine that Konate was rather shocked by the fact he didn’t struggle against a player who can be considered genuinely one of the greatest of all time.
