Chris Sutton has criticised Tottenham Hotspur duo Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min in The Daily Mail for the bust-up against Everton.

The former Celtic and Chelsea striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, has also given his verdict on Tottenham and Everton after the Premier League game between the two sides at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening.

As reported by Sky Sports, following the half-time whistle against Everton, Spurs goalkeeper Lloris and forward Son were embroiled in a bust-up.

The duo had to be separated by teammates, but things seemed to be okay between them after they emerged from the dressing room for the second half.

Sutton has criticised Lloris and Son for the bust-up, and he was also less than impressed with the performances of Spurs and Everton.

Sutton wrote in The Daily Mail: “Centre forwards can have a go at goalkeepers, and goalkeepers can have a go at centre forwards. It happens.

“Emotions run high on the football field. I was on the bench when David Batty and Graeme Le Saux had a ding dong in 1995 when our Blackburn team played Spartak Moscow. It wasn’t great.

“And I was surprised to see the Spurs lads lose it on Monday night and have to be separated by their fellow players.

“It wasn’t what you would want to see if you’re a Spurs supporter. There was no need either — Tottenham edged it in the first half.”

Sutton told BBC Sport (9:11pm, July 6, 2020): “These are two mediocre, mid-table teams.”

Slim Champions League hopes

The win against Everton means that Tottenham still have slim hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Spurs were far from flamboyant against the Toffees, but they got the job done and picked up all three points.
