Arsenal might well miss a European place this season and it’ll be interesting to see how it affects the club’s transfer plans during the summer.

The Gunners have been in some sort of continental competition each and every year since 1996.

But with Arsenal languishing in ninth in the Premier League table, there’s a distinct chance Mikel Arteta’s side won’t have any sort of European tournament to compete in next year.

But how would this affect the North Londoners’ transfer plans? Minimally, according to reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano told an Arsenal Lounge podcast: “I was speaking to people in the last days about some potential Arsenal moves and players are always attracted to join Arsenal.”

So there you have it.

Arsenal missing out on European football wouldn’t necessarily be detrimental for Arteta and Edu’s transfer plans.

After all, it’s the Gunners we’re talking about and they’ll continue to be a massive club, capable of paying players the big bucks, even without a spot in the Champions League or Europa League – or Europa Conference League, which also looks unlikely.
