Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing this weekend’s north London derby and Aaron Ramsdale.
As a former goalkeeper himself, Seaman was, of course, focused on Ramsdale more than any other player at the weekend, and he was quite surprised by what he saw.
Indeed, Seaman told Ramsdale this time last year that a north London derby will often be amongst the most difficult games he plays in, but he was surprised to see that the Arsenal goalie had such an easy game against Antonio Conte’s side.
Ramsdale’s easy afternoon
Seaman discussed Ramsdale having an easy time of it at the weekend.
“Do you know what I was really shocked with Spurs, and I’m not sure if it was because of how good Arsenal were. In the first five minutes Spurs came at Arsenal really quickly, but as soon as Arsenal got control they started playing some really good moves. I said to Aaron last year after the north London derby, I said ‘north London derbies are never that easy mate’, but I was wrong, this one was easier for him. Last year he had a vital save to make at the end, but he didn’t have a lot to do at the weekend which was a shock,” Seaman said.
Shouldn’t be that easy
Seaman’s advice to Ramsdale this time last year didn’t quite ring true, but as the pundit says, north London derbies shouldn’t be that easy.
Ramsdale only really had one save to make from Richarlison in the first-half, and aside from the penalty, Spurs struggled to really test the England international.
Ramsdale was probably gearing up for an incredibly tough challenge, but in the end this game turned out to be a bit of a walk in the park for the goalkeeper.
The goalie certainly wouldn’t mind having more games that are as simple as this one was.
