Fabinho believes Liverpool made themselves stronger in a bid to win the Premier League title. He sees two ways they’ve done this over the summer.
Are Liverpool ready to win the title this season? It’s a big ask after a relatively quiet summer in which one player arrived.
Ibrahima Konate was that player but Liverpool didn’t really boost their first XI. Instead, they’re relying on players returning from injury and kicking them up a level from last season.
That’s in stark contrast to the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea who broke transfer records to strengthen. Jack Grealish and Romelu Lukaku are already making a difference.
But despite the quiet summer, Fabinho believes Liverpool are stronger. He sees at least two days they’ve done this – though, it didn’t take all that much.
Fabinho sees a stronger Liverpool
“Even though Liverpool haven’t spent as much as other clubs in this window, several players have renewed their contracts, which is very important for the club. I was one of those players,” Fabinho told ESPN Brazil.
“We signed Konaté, who is an excellent defender, Harvey Elliot came back on loan, which is something important for us, [Takumi] Minamino, too.
“I believe our team is very strong, it’s the same team that won the Premier League two years ago. More experienced players, more important games in the bag. These are things that make the team stronger.
“And if you want to have a winning team, we have to keep the most important pieces and that’s what Liverpool have been doing.”
Consistency, then. Fabinho believes tying elite players down and guaranteeing competitiveness for the next few years essentially makes you stronger. Players will gain further experience and play important games together – that should bring more cohesion.

Add in additions to the squad – Konate and loan returns – and Liverpool are strong.
And he’s unquestionably right, of course. All of that is true and Liverpool are stronger. Even stronger than in 2020 when they won the title, in fact, purely through experience.
But are they strong enough? City and Chelsea already had successful seasons last year and then added elite players. Liverpool didn’t do that and the worry will be that they’ve been surpassed.
And that’s something Fabinho himself fears. Time will tell, of course. Liverpool just need to hope those transfers didn’t improve their rivals as much as it seems.
