Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has honestly told Amazon Prime Sport that he hasn’t been ‘talking a lot’ behind the scenes at Arsenal during these recent times of struggles.

The out-of-form hitman, who ended his drought of not scoring from open play for 797 minutes during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Southampton, admitted that he prefers to do his talking ‘on the pitch’.

It has been a pretty rough ride for everyone associated with Arsenal of late, including Aubameyang, whose form has well and truly hit a brick wall.

Well, the £56 million signing [BBC Sport] was pretty honest in his assessment of Arsenal and himself following last night’s draw.

“I think tonight is not about my goal and me,” said Aubemeyang. “It’s about the team. We need points and it doesn’t matter if I score, the most important thing is to win games and get points.

“I think, at the moment, when things go wrong I just stay in my path and I work a lot. I try to give my advice inside.

“I was not talking a lot these few weeks but I am here and I want to talk on the pitch.”

Whilst Arsenal still wait for a much-needed three points, Mikel Arteta will be hoping this game and Aubameyang’s goal is a springboard for them to push up the table.

It’s pretty obvious, as was proven last season, that without Aubameyang hitting the back of the net on a regular basis, Arsenal can look pretty abject, just like they have done for most parts of this season.

Given that games are coming thick and fast now, if Arsenal can go on a little run then they may well find that the mood around the Emirates might change in a pretty dramatic fashion within a couple of weeks because of the number of games they are going to play.

Arsenal’s next stop is a pretty tough away clash against European-chasing Everton.
