Jose Mourinho has said that Football London that he so wishes he could have played Tottenham Hotspur’s Lucas Moura on Friday.

Spurs managed to draw 1-1 with Manchester United in their first game back, but they did visibly tire towards the end of the contest.

Steven Bergwijn, who scored Tottenham’s goal, started to cut a fatigued figure late on.

However, Mourinho’s options to replace him were very limited – with Spurs having to go into the game without Lucas or Dele Alli on the bench.

And Mourinho admits that the Brazilian would have been brought on, if he had the chance.

“I knew that 90 minutes were not there [for Bergwijn],” he said.

“I was just wishing in that match to have Lucas on the bench because if Lucas was on the bench I could change player by player and then keep the intensity high and that’s something we’re going to be able to do, because on our bench we will have strong attacking options.”

Lucas, thankfully, will be available for Tottenham this evening, which should make their attack look even stronger.

Spurs have an almost fully fit squad to pick from, and head into their contest with West Ham United as the favourites to pick up the three points.

Lucas is most likely to start from the bench tonight, as Bergwijn has surely done enough to keep his place, after an excellent display against United.
