Eric Dier was superb for Tottenham Hotspur as they beat Real Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur produced one of their best performances in years as they beat Real Madrid 3-1 at Wembley.
Every single player was outstanding in the victory, which took Spurs to the top of their Champions League group at the expense of the current holders.
Dele Alli took the plaudits for his brace, but his close pal Eric Dier was also brilliant, excelling in two positions.

Dier started in midfield but an injury to Toby Alderweireld prompted a tactical reshuffle.
Moussa Sissoko came on in midfield and Dier shifted to central defence, a potentially worrying moment.
Last season Dier’s weaker performances came when he was in defence, including in the Champions League last season in losses to Monaco.
He played well against Manchester United even though Davinson Sanchez was conspicuous by his absence, but last night was one of Dier’s best performances yet in defence, playing more than half the game at the back.
Dier, 23, will hope this statement performance can be a turning point for him and it will surely lift his confidence.
Even some Tottenham fans had questioned his ability at the back, last night he appeared to have won them over.
