Jamie Carragher has been speaking about his desire to see Liverpool sign Jude Bellingham on the CBS Sports Golazo show.

What’s the story?

Well, the England international is said to be Jürgen Klopp’s No.1 transfer target for Liverpool.

According to Sky Sports, the Reds are determined to sign Bellingham, and are favourites to secure his signature despite interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City as well.

Now, Carragher has told the CBS Sports Golazo show that he would do “whatever” the 19-year-old tells him to do if he agrees to join Liverpool, after Borussia Dortmund recorded a 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Champions League last night.

After Bellingham jokingly told Carragher off in his post-match interview, the 45-year-old replied: “Listen, I want that man in a red shirt, so I will do whatever he tells me to do.”

If Klopp is to get his hands on the teenager, it will seemingly cost Liverpool a club-record sum.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenburg believes Borussia Dortmund value Bellingham at £130m, which would be significantly more than Liverpool’s current record signing, which is the £85m they spent on Darwin Nunez.

The Borussia Dortmund No.22 – who cost the German side £25m – delivered yet another outstanding display on the European scene last night as he helped his side record a 1-0 win over Chelsea.

As WhoScored shows, Bellingham – named captain for the clash with Graham Potter’s side – made two key passes while also completing two dribbles, as well as showing a steely defensive side to his game.

The Birmingham-born wonderkid impressively made three successful tackles, two interceptions, two blocks and one clearance as he played a crucial role in his side keeping a clean sheet.

Liverpool must improve if they want Bellingham

While Sky Sports believe Liverpool are the favourites to sign Bellingham, Klopp must ensure his side improves on the pitch to give himself the best possible chance of fending off Manchester City and Real Madrid.

As things stand, Liverpool sit ninth in the Premier League.

If they fail to qualify for the Europa League – let alone the Champions League – then it would surely be a huge blow to their hopes of signing Bellingham, who is unlikely to drop out of European competition altogether when he is currently bossing it on the biggest stage.
