Jose Enrique has stated on Instagram that he is hoping the transfer rumours that Newcastle United might want to sign Real Madrid superstar Eden Hazard is ‘fake news’.

The former left-back added that he doesn’t think Eddie Howe will want to sign the 31-year-old that left Chelsea for Real Madrid in 2019 for £150 million (BBC Sport).

When Hazard was dazzling the opposition and causing havoc during his days in Chelsea colours, he was regarded as one of the best in the Premier League, at that moment in time.

Many thought he would continue that on in Spain, but it has been a real struggle for the Belgium international – there are suggestions now that Newcastle aren’t just looking at him, but Aston Villa also.

Injuries have caused havoc on the winger during his days in La Liga and there is a feeling that he is now nowhere near the player he once was, hence probably why Enrique doesn’t want to see him at St James’ Park.

“I used to love Hazard at Chelsea, but I really hope this is fake news, at least for Newcastle,” said Enrique. “I am not caring too much about Aston Villa (interest).

“I really hope Newcastle don’t go for him. I don’t think Eddie (Howe) will go for Hazard.”

HAZARD ISN’T WHAT NEWCASTLE NEED

If the Magpies are looking for that superstar name, that player that has been there and done it at the top level, then Hazard isn’t your answer.

Not because he lacks quality, but because injuries have taken their toll on him and he is no longer the same player that used to put many opposition players on their backside.

Plus, if he were to return to the Premier League, then he’s not going to be cheap, especially when it comes from a wage perspective, so it’s best Newcastle stays away.
