Speaking on his YouTube channel, Arsenal journalist Charles Watts has shared what he knows about William Saliba and his future at Arsenal.
The French centre-back was signed way back in 2019, but he’s still yet to make his competitive debut for the club.
He’s gone out on loan once again this season, and he’s absolutely flourishing at Marseille. He’s just received his first France call-up, and as you may imagine, this has led to questions about his future at Arsenal.
According to Watts, Saliba’s representatives are expecting to hold talks with the Gunners in the next few weeks about what will happen in terms of the defender’s future.
What’s been said?
Watts shared what he knows about Saliba.
“In terms of his future, I keep getting questions about him. Nothing has gone on yet, no talks, what I understand is that Saliba’s people expect talks to start happening in the next few weeks in regards to his Arsenal future and what will happen in the summer. You would think there would be contract discussions in the summer, nothing has happened with that yet, but once they make contact in the next few weeks they will sit down and plan something for the summer,” Watts said.

Tough situation
Saliba is clearly a very talented player, but Arsenal are in a tough situation here.
There’s not really a case to be made for changing the centre-back partnership of Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes, and while Saliba would be a good back-up, do you really want a player like that rotting on the bench?
Saliba’s stock is probably as high as it’s ever been, so the Gunners could sell him for a hefty amount, but then again, if he goes on to reach his potential, they may regret not keeping him.
The Gunners have a difficult decision to make here.
