Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that he has been informed that Arsenal have a chance of signing Richarlison from Everton in the summer. The Toffees are struggling in their fight to avoid relegation to the Championship.
Richarlison, 24, has struggled to impress this season – coinciding with Everton’s woeful form. The Toffees have lost nine of their last 11 Premier League games and with 10 games left to play, relegation is a possibility.
There are some reports suggesting that Everton need to sell Richarlison or Dom Calvert-Lewin this summer to cover the spiraling Everton costs. But if relegation occurs, both players are likely to leave Everton in the summer.
Planet Sport recently reported that Richarlison is one of 10 strikers that could join Arsenal – with the Gunners in the market for a striker. Jones says that there is a real chance that Arsenal could get him this summer.
“It’s been mooted before and, as I understand it, it’s something that could actually happen in the summer as well,” Jones told Give Me Sport, when discussing the possibility that Arsenal could sign Everton ace Richarlison.
Jones on Richarlison: Is Everton man what Arsenal need?
Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah look set to leave on a free in June, leaving Arsenal with just Folarin Balogun up front. Gabriel Martinelli is impressing, but from the left flank at Arsenal.
Richarlison is more than adept at playing up front – indeed, the £50million signing (BBC) has done at Everton, as well as for his country, where he has won 34 caps. But he is not an out-and-out no.9, like Calvert-Lewin.
