Kevin Campbell has claimed that there are some sections of the Arsenal fanbase that want the club to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG, as he told the Highbury Squad.
The former striker was making reference to how some sections of Arsenal fans won’t be happy if they were to sign Gabriel Jesus because he’s ‘not world-class’.
Arsenal aren’t in a situation, both where they are in the Premier League, Europe or financially, to sign the top talents of the world.
Whilst Liverpool land Darwin Nunez’s talents and Manchester City secure the signature of Erling Haaland.
Those at the Emirates can’t compete, as Campbell appeared to aim a dig at those sections of Arsenal fans who are unhappy at the strikers they have been linked with.
On Arsenal signing Jesus and fans possibly saying ‘he’s not good enough’ or he’s ‘not world-class’:
“I understand (some) Arsenal fans because I suppose they want Arsenal to go and sign Kylian Mbappe,” said Campbell.
“That’s what Arsenal fans seem to want. We are not in that market. So, what we have to do is sign somebody who can do the job, knows how to do the job and has a bit of hunger to be the main man.”
ARSENAL NEED TO GET A STRIKER IN ASAP
It has been obvious for months that Arsenal have needed another number nine.
Even when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was still at the club, it could have been argued another striker was needed.
Now that the Gabon star is out of the door, alongside Alexandre Lacazette who is returning to Lyon, then it becomes even more important.
But before pre-season starts, if Arsenal don’t have that number nine through the door, then fans will express their frustration and anger, that’s for sure.
