Lucas Moura told Premier League Productions (15/08/21 at 6:35 pm) that he told Heung-Min Son on the team bus, before their win against Manchester City, that it was ‘very strange’ having the Tottenham fans back.
For the first time in over a year, the Spurs faithful were able to pack out their ground as they recorded a deserved 1-0 win against the Premier League champions.
Harry Kane may have been absent, but it didn’t affect Nuno Espirito Santo’s side too much as the likes of Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga, Moura and Son produced outstanding performances.
There’s no doubt that having the Spurs fans in the stadium provided that lift Nuno’s side needed because they started off the game in a worrying fashion.
But Son’s effort from outside of the box in the second half was enough to seal the points, as Moura made this claim about his own supporters.
“It’s amazing,” said Moura. “Even on the bus, before we arrived in this stadium, I told Sonny, ‘it’s very strange to have the fans back’.
“A lot of people around the stadium. But I am very happy because it was a tough period with no fans. It was a difficult situation.
“I always say ‘football is about fans’. Today the feeling was amazing.”

What an opening debut for Nuno in North London, who has handled the drama around Kane pretty well and set up a strong opening platform for his new side for the new season.
Of course, it gets a lot more difficult from here on in, but when Spurs suffer that first defeat or poor performance, that’s when Nuno will be really tested.
But until then, Nuno can use this momentum to help Spurs quietly do their business as other teams around them are spoken about in high regard.
