Manchester United new boy Jadon Sancho has fired a playful warning to Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Earlier today, the Red Devils announced that they had signed the former Borussia Dortmund winger in what is reportedly a £72 million deal.
Sancho and the Leeds star saw a lot of one another on international duty with England during Euro 2020.
And a reunion could be only a few weeks away because first up for Leeds in the Premier League next season is a trip to Old Trafford.
Asked about potentially facing the 25-year-old on his debut, Sancho said to his new club’s official website: “[Smiles] Definitely – I told him to watch out, so he knows!”
Redemption
Marcelo Bielsa will hope that it’s something of a redemption story at the Theatre of Dreams on August 14.
That’s because when Leeds went there last season in December, the Yorkshire side wound up being thumped 6-2.
The Whites more than held their own against the Premier League’s elite last season – and even beat Manchester City at the Etihad, despite having 10 men – but that mauling by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will have irked the veteran Argentine and he, along with his players, will be desperate to put things right.
Sancho coming up against Phillips is an interesting subplot but, of course, the main item on the agenda for Leeds will be three points and if their star midfielder can replicate the sort of heroics he produced during Euro 2020, they have every chance.
