This season has just gotten a lot better for Tottenham Hotspur loanee Oliver Skipp.
Norwich City are top of the Championship by 10 points and Skipp has played a starring role in what looks like being a wonderful campaign for the Canaries.
The 20-year-old Tottenham academy gem has started all of City’s 32 league games this season – and now he’s off the mark, too.
Daniel Farke’s side won 3-1 away to Birmingham City last night and it was the Spurs defensive midfielder that finished the game off, adding a third in stoppage time.
This was Skipp’s first senior goal for any club and Farke revealed to Norwich’s official website that he encouraged the young star to savour it.
He said: “I told him straight away after the game, he should enjoy this special day and unique day. I’m not sure if he’ll score at any moment again during his senior career because he’s not known for goals anyhow!”
Norwich look like being a Premier League side next season but Tottenham fans won’t let Skipp stay at Carrow Road.
Daniel Levy and Jose Mourinho will definitely want him back this summer – and there’s a real chance he could stake a claim in the Lilywhites’ side next term.
Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko aren’t having good seasons under Mourinho and it’s possible that both will be gone by the time the 2021-22 campaign begins.
Being a midfielder, that’s two obstacles for Skipp out of the way and time will tell whether it materialises.
