Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has admitted that he has asked Ousmane Dembele to stay at FC Barcelona amid interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham in January.

Speaking to Marca, the Gabon international was asked about his new attacking partner, with Dembele partnering Aubameyang in the attack as the French international impressed for Barcelona in a 4-1 win against Valencia, with the winger bagging an assist.

Whilst Aubameyang stole the show with a hat-trick performance, Dembele produced one of his best performances of the season so far in a year that has been plagued with transfer rumours and speculation, with Arsenal and Tottenham reportedly keen on the forward.

TuttoMercatoWeb report that Dembele is on Antonio Conte’s radar, whereas the Transfer Window Podcast claim that Arsenal are also in the mix for the former Borussia Dortmund superstar.

With the winger set to leave Barcelona in the summer, the tussle for Dembele’s signature will no doubt be an entertaining one, yet for Aubameyang, the striker wants the Frenchman to renew with the club amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.

The Barcelona attacker said: “Ousmane is one of the best on the ball and as a forward he is unbelievable. I’m very happy he’s here and, when I arrived, I told him ‘You have to stay, man’. Can he still renew? I don’t know, everything is possible in life.”

Partnership with Aubameyang could see Dembele stay with Barcelona

Barcelona have tried and tried to renew Dembele’s contract, yet so far, all attempts have been shot down by the La Liga giants. However, the arrival of Aubameyang could change this for the striker.

Indeed, the duo played together for Borussia Dortmund and flourished for the Bundesliga side, and this revitalised partnership could win over Dembele in staying with Barcelona with Aubameyang leading the line for the Catalan side.
