Darren Bent says Tottenham Hotspur fans will be ‘angry’ at Daniel Levy that Mauricio Pochettino is now Chelsea’s new manager.

When Tottenham sacked Antonio Conte, there were calls from some fans to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to the club given that he wasn’t in a job.

But it seems as though Daniel Levy didn’t even approach the 51-year-old, with Bent pointing out that Spurs had ‘more than enough time to get a deal done’, as he told talkSPORT.

It’s not easy for the Spurs faithful to watch Pochettino, who they hugely admired, now take the hot seat of their London rivals.

What makes matters worse is that they themselves still haven’t got a new manager in place, so it just adds fuel to the fire that is building around the club.

It will be interesting to see what type of reception Pochettino gets when he returns to north London, but for Bent, all the frustration and anger will only be aimed at one man, after he thought a deal for the Argentine to return to Spurs was ‘done’.

“I think they will be alright (Spurs fans on Poch going to Chelsea),” said Bent. “There will be a little bit of hurt because he has gone to one of their rivals, as you said.

“But, at the same time, Spurs had more than enough time to get a deal done. I don’t think a lot of that anger will be vented at Pochettino. I think it will be vented at Daniel Levy.

“The moment they sacked Antonio Conte. Right, what are we doing? Who are we going to bring in? I always thought it was a done deal that he would go back to Spurs after Conte left. The fact that it’s taken them this long and they still haven’t found a manager and they haven’t brought him back.

“I think a lot of Spurs fans will say. ‘Well, what is Pochettino supposed to do? Wait for a call that was never going to come? Or take a job at Chelsea?’ I don’t think there will be any hatred or any kind of bitterness. I think they will aim it all at Daniel Levy because he could have done this a long time ago.”

CAN POCHETTINO WIN TROPHIES AT CHELSEA?

Whilst Pochettino overachieved during his time as Tottenham’s manager, there was that glaring hole that he didn’t win a trophy.

Well, that has to be the minimum aim for a Chelsea side that, since the turn of the century, have been the most successful in English football.

If he does rack up the trophies at Stamford Bridge, then it’s not going to be an easy watch for Spurs fans, especially if their own team continues to decline.
