Dimitar Berbatov stated on his Instagram story that Arsenal ‘should give him more time’, as he made reference to Mikel Arteta’s future at the club.

Sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table and recently knocked out of the League Cup after losing 4-1 to Manchester City, it has been a nightmare start to the season for Arsenal.

The problem that Arteta faces is that they cannot seem to hit the breaks to stop their abject form, as they are heading one way, at this moment in time, and that’s towards the relegation zone.

But Manchester United legend and ex-Tottenham hitman Berbatov was asked on Instagram whether Arsenal should sack Arteta and he issued this simple response.

“No, I think they should give him more time,” said Berbatov. “I think English football should give more chances to young coaches to prove that they can do the job.

“They have had a difficult start but I believe they will turn it around.”

Given where Arsenal are heading, they need to either sack Arteta now or back him properly next month in the transfer market because serious changes are needed.

In truth, three or four transfer windows are needed to clean up the rubbish in North London because there are problems left, right and centre.

Whilst long-term issues cannot be fixed in the short-term, those in the boardroom can make small changes which can make the biggest of differences and that’s the hope those at Arsenal can cling onto, for now.
