Dimitar Berbatov says it’s ‘unfair’ that Harry Kane wasn’t able to secure a transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to another Premier League team.
After two decades in Tottenham colours and coming through the ranks as a kid, Harry Kane departed his club for Bayern Munich to the heartbreak of his fans.
But Berbatov thinks it’s ‘sad’ that no team in England was able to provide him with the ‘platform to win trophies’ given that’s what he has gone to Germany to do, as he told Premier League Productions (14/08/23 at 10:30 pm).
A number of years ago, the 30-year-old wanted to link-up with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, but Daniel Levy just refused to sell.
But now the Spurs chairman had no choice but to let the club’s all-time leading goalscorer go because he had less than 12 months left on his contract.
Berbatov was in that situation over ten years ago, he left Spurs for Manchester United at the time, but Kane couldn’t get such a wish.

“To be honest, I think it’s sad that Harry Kane has left the Premier League,” said Berbatov. “He is one of the greatest of his generation.
“He has now gone to Germany, where I played for five years and I know he will find success there. The main reason he has gone there is to win the Champions League.
“It’s sad that no team in England can give him the platform to win trophies. So, he needed to go outside of England to do that. I think that’s unfair.”

Will Kane return to the Premier League?
The England captain signed a four-year contract with Bayern, so there is every chance he returns to the Premier League stage one day.
A certain Alan Shearer wouldn’t want to hear that because Kane probably needs two more seasons in England to break his Premier League record.
In truth, the quicker Kane is successful in Munich, I.e. winning the European Cup and more, then the quicker he might return to try and break that Premier League record.
