Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Joe Gomez could be in line to start against Norwich.
As well as the 24-year-old, Klopp also suggested that Virgil van Dijk could start against the Canaries as well.
Van Dijk and Gomez haven’t played a league game for the Reds for quite some time, with both players suffering serious injuries last season, but it could finally be time for them to return to the XI.
What’s been said?
The Liverpool manager gave an update on Gomez and van Dijk.
“I think so, it looks like [they are available to start]. But how it is with these kind of things, we have nothing to rush in this department,” Klopp said.
“We just have to make then a decision on who will start, who will come on, things like this and if I think they are ready for 90 minutes then they are ready to start.
“If I think we have to take them off earlier then it makes no sense because centre-half is not actually a position where you want to change during a game and so we will see.
“But both look really good. An intense season is coming up. We will see how we decide that.”

Brilliant news
This must be fantastic to hear if you’re a Liverpool fan.
The Reds’ struggles last season really started when van Dijk and Gomez were sidelined, so to have both players back for the start of this season is a real boost.
Will they start? Well, it’s hard to imagine both players will be risked, especially when you consider that Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate are probably in better shape, but there could be space for one of them to slot straight into the XI.
Either way, it’s great to hear both Gomez and van Dijk are back fit.
