Former Liverpool winger Stewart Downing believes Jurgen Klopp will be very disappointed with the strikes his side conceded in their defeat against Man City, especially the goal scored by Nathan Ake.
As the Carabao Cup Round of 16 clash was tied at 2-2, the Reds left Ake unmarked at the back post, as he headed in a pinpoint Kevin De Bruyne cross past Caoimhin Kelleher to settle the tie.
Despite fielding a weakened side, Jurgen Klopp’s side did well to come back twice in the contest against the Premier League champions.
After Erling Haaland’s brilliant opener in the 10th minute, Fabio Carvalho levelled the scored just 10 minutes later.
As for Mohamed Salah, he just took a minute to cancel out Riyad Mahrez’s stunner.
However, an avoidable goal was let in by the Liverpool backline as Man City booked their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

Stewart Downing feels Jurgen Klopp will be miffed in particular at the Nathan Ake goal leaked by the Liverpool defence against Man City in the Carabao Cup, as well as the other two strikes.
“That’s what will disappoint Jurgen. I’ve read this morning that he said that was he was very disappointed with the goals that could’ve been avoided.”
“You hope that they work on stuff like that [defending Nathan Ake’s goal better]. If it’s a world class goal, you just say, ‘Well, fair enough. It’s a top goal.’
“But for a goal like that to lose a game after coming back and equalising against a top team, I think he’ll be very disappointed with that goal”, he said on talkSPORT.
Ultimately, the goal headed in by Ake is a lesson to Klopp’s Liverpool on how not to defend during such situations inside the box.
