Speaking on Goal’s YouTube channel, Paul Robinson has said that he still thinks Tottenham will win the league after their loss to Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

Robinson was speaking on Goal’s in-play show after Spurs’ 2-1 loss to the Reds in midweek, and understandably, conversation turned towards the title race.

Robinson had names Tottenham as the team he thought would win the league earlier in the evening, and despite their 2-1 loss to the Reds, he wasn’t willing to change his prediction.

“I still back them, yeah, I still believe in the squad that he’s got, I think that they’ll mount a serious challenge, but on the flipside to that, anyone who finishes above Liverpool and Manchester City will win the league,” Robinson said (Goal in-play 2:44:30).

The ex-Spurs goalkeeper is seemingly very confident of his side’s chances of winning the league, and why shouldn’t he be?

He says that any team that finishes above City and Liverpool will win the league, and as things stand, Tottenham are the best positioned side to do that.

Man City look well off the pace this season, and while Liverpool may have bested Tottenham on Wednesday, this season is a marathon, not a sprint, and with Liverpool’s ongoing injury crisis, Tottenham may have the edge as the season runs on and more fatigue sets in.

Of course, only time will tell whether or not Robinson’s title claim comes true, but it’s certainly interesting to see that he still has faith in his former side to get the job done after a demoralising defeat against their biggest title rivals.

There is still a long way to go in this title race, that’s for sure.
