Speaking on The View from The Lane Podcast, Jurgen Klinsmann has been discussing Harry Kane’s future and how Spurs fans may react to his departure.

Tottenham have been in torrid form as of late, and Spurs’ recent drop-off has led to more questions about Kane’s future at the north London club.

Indeed, with silverware looking like a distant possibility at Spurs once again, many are already touting Kane for a move next summer as he enters the final year of his contract.

Klinsmann says that Kane leaving is a possibility, but interestingly, he claims that Tottenham fans would forgive him for wanting to leave if Spurs continued to fail to win major honours.

Fans would forgive Kane

Klinsmann says Spurs supporters would be forgiving if Kane left the club.

“I’m a huge, huge fan of Harry. There’s no doubt about it, as we all are at Spurs. It’s a decision that he has to make sooner or later. He knows he has a very good team right now. He has a very strong-minded manager, so we all hope that he actually starts to win trophies now with Spurs. That’s our hope. But also, I think people would forgive him if he said at a certain point, if it’s next summer or the summer after when his contract is definitely over, that he will move on to a club that might give him a higher probability to win trophies. But I still have that hope that it will happen with Spurs,” Klinsmann said.

Not his fault

It would be hard for any Spurs fan to begrudge Kane for leaving the club next summer.

Indeed, after over a decade of service at Spurs, there really isn’t any more Kane can do for this club.

If Tottenham do go another year without a trophy, the one player it would be impossible to point the finger at is Kane, and at a certain point, enough is enough.

Kane is a player who deserves to win some silverware, but sadly, he’s at risk of going his whole career without winning a single thing if he remains at Tottenham until he retires.
