'I think it'll get done': BBC pundit tips Celtic to sign £32k-a-week player

Tam McManus has praised Celtic’s reported desire to bring Steven Fletcher to Parkhead.

The 33-year-old striker is a free agent after being released by Sheffield Wednesday.

And according to The Record, Celtic are in talks to bring him to Glasgow this summer, while The Scottish Sun reported today that the player himself is desperate to make it happen.

Fletcher, who earned £32,000 per week with the Owls, is a different kind of striker than Leigh Griffiths, Odsonne Edouard or Patryk Klimala.

The only one comparable is Vakoun Issouf Bayo, who has struggled during his 18-month spell in Glasgow.

And former Hibernian star and BBC pundit McManus is certain that he’s a big, big upgrade on Bayo.

If we’re honest, McManus is absolutely spot on.

With his experience and ability to score the type of goals that Edouard and Griffiths can’t, this would be a brilliant piece of business for Celtic, especially given that he’s free.

Rangers bolstered their forward line this week with the addition of Kemar Roofe and, if Alfredo Morelos stays, Steven Gerrard’s side are going to score a lot of goals this season.

But so will Celtic if they get Fletcher and it’s tough to see a negative in this.
