Gary Lineker and Jamie Carragher have shared their reactions after Everton announced the appointment of Rafa Benítez.
What’s the story?
Well, earlier today, the Toffees announced the Spaniard’s arrival at Goodison Park, where he has penned a three-year deal.
The appointment has caused shockwaves throughout English football, as a number of Everton fans turned against Benítez before he had even arrived.
Why? Well, due to his time at Liverpool of course. Oh, and also the fact he called Everton a small club once, perhaps.
Anti-Benítez banners were even spread around Merseyside.
Ex-Stoke forward Jonathan Walters found the funny side – he let fans know ASDA were selling three bedsheets for £20, for those who ruined theirs.
What did Gary Lineker and Jamie Carragher say?

Well, in Carragher’s case, the 43-year-old simply said he’ll be sitting back and watching the drama unfold.
The ex-Liverpool man told talkSPORT: “It’s one of those ones where I think I will just sit back with the popcorn and watch it all unfold!”
Elsewhere, Lineker’s verdict was much shorter.
The BBC Match of the Day host simply tweeted an emoji.

It showed someone clenching their teeth, as if to say Lineker was tense and nervous about how the appointment would go down.
Only time will tell, but given his history with the Reds, Benítez is already up against it at Goodison Park.
