Charlie Adam has claimed that Arsenal could very easily pick up £50 million for Kieran Tierney if they were to sell him to somebody like Real Madrid this summer.
Tierney joined Arsenal from Celtic in a £25 million deal under Unai Emery almost two years ago.
And since then, the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the Gunners’ best and most reliable players – when he is fit, that is.
The former Celtic left-back has had his fair share of injury problems and is now on the sidelines again for approximately six weeks after sustaining knee ligament damage.
In terms of value for money, Tierney has proven himself a huge success at Arsenal and Adam, speaking to BBC Radio Scotland, claims that the jet-heeled defender could be worth as much as double his original transfer fee.
He said: “Would it surprise me if a Real Madrid, a Man City or any of the clubs in the top echelons come in for him in the summer? I think he’s ready now. He’s 23, he signed for Arsenal injured and was out for a spell with groin and shoulders problems. But he’s come back and has matured into a top player. I believe he can go to the next level again. You’re starting at £50m too.”
In this market, Adam is right – Tierney is easily worth £50 million.
He has another three or four years before he even hits the peak of his powers, which is exciting if you’re an Arsenal fan because he can – and will – get much better, fitness permitting.
