Alan Brazil has revealed live on air on talkSPORT that Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to return to Tottenham Hotspur.
Pochettino helped transform the Lilywhites prior to being sacked by Daniel Levy in autumn of 2019.
The Argentine even helped Tottenham to the first Champions League final in their history and considering that they can’t even qualify for the competition these days, you could argue that Spurs haven’t exactly jolted forwards after dumping the 50-year-old manager.
The Paris Saint-Germain coach has been linked with the long-term Manchester United position this summer.
However, Brazil has revealed that Pochettino has no intention of joining the Red Devils and instead would favour a return to North London.
He told talkSPORT: “Pochettino is not going to United – Man United have been warned by PSG sporting director [Leonardo] that Pochettino has no intention of leaving Paris.
“Well, I tell you right now, that is not the case. From the horses mouth, Poch wants to come back to the Premier [League] and he wants to come back with Tottenham. I do know, in his heart, he wants to come back to Spurs.”
Is Pochettino coming back to Spurs?
Honestly? Probably not.
A couple of weeks ago it might’ve seemed a thousand times more realistic, following Antonio Conte’s outburst after losing to Burnley.
But according to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian manager has ‘no intention’ of leaving the Lilywhites prematurely and remains committed to this project at Tottenham.
Besides, Conte also might be a better coach.
The Italian isn’t going to sign the next Harry Kane or bring through academy gems that are staples of the Spurs’ XI for many years.
He might, however, end Tottenham’s 14-year trophy drought before he himself leaves and ultimately that’s what Levy and the supporters crave – silverware.
