Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he remains close to Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho signed the Spanish playmaker for Chelsea in the summer of 2014 and Fabregas helped the Blues to a Premier League title in his first season back in England.

The former Arsenal captain yearned for silverware in North London but left for Barcelona in 2011 after failing to win anything during his six years as a regular with the Gunners.

Both Fabregas and Mourinho have gone on to different things since.

The Portuguese is Tottenham boss and has been for a year, while the Spain international is now plying his trade with Monaco in Ligue 1.

But Fabregas has revealed to ESPN that he still has a solid relationship with the 57-year-old.

He said: “I had to go where I thought I would do best, the decision was mine and it didn’t depend on what people said. I prioritised the professional [aspect], and today I still write to him and I consider him a friend.

“He helped me a lot at a difficult time in my career and perhaps I played one of my best seasons with him.”

With Dele struggling in a major way for Spurs this season, Mourinho could probably do with somebody like Fabregas.

Okay he’s 33 and hasn’t scored or set up a goal for Monaco so far this season but, in his pomp, what an addition he would’ve been in this Lilywhites side, especially with Son Heung-min, Gareth Bale and Harry Kane already there.
