Adam Lallana told talkSPORT the injuries Liverpool have suffered this season is ‘a reason’ behind their slump and ‘you cannot hide from that’.
The Brighton midfielder also shared that he still speaks to the Liverpool players and he is ‘more than confident’ that they will bounce back next season.
It was like somebody took a chunk out of Liverpool’s arm, with their backline wiped out with injury after injury during this campaign.
And Lallana, who was part of the title-winning squad last season, was asked to share his thoughts on their demise this term.
“I think the reason is there for everybody to see,” said Lallana. “It’s obviously an indifferent season. Being another COVID season. Without the fans and everyone knows how much of an impact Anfield is with the fans there.
“The injuries that they have had. You cannot hide from that. It’s not an excuse. I know a lot of the players, and I still speak to them now, and they won’t be using that as an excuse, but I think it’s a reason why they have struggled a bit this season.
“I am more than confident that they will bounce back next season when they have a few more players back and a few more fans in.
“And they still have a lot to play for this season. I am pretty sure they will want to finish in that top four, for sure.”

The big worry for Liverpool, at this moment in time, is the fact that they might miss out on Champions League football.
Well, they have two roads to go down – the easy one being finishing in the top-four full stop.
Or, remarkably adding number seven to their cabinet and even surprising their own fans by lifting another European trophy.
