Darren Bent has taken to Twitter to make a claim which will annoy Liverpool fans, after watching the Champions League last night.

What’s the story?

Well, the man with 106 Premier League goals to his name hopped onto Twitter last night to share his thoughts on Kyle Walker.

Interestingly, the 38-year-old believes the Manchester City No.2 is the best right-back in England, after he watched the £53m man defend against Vinicius Junior last night.

In fairness to the ex-Tottenham man, he did tremendously well to shackle the Brazilian, up until he was forced off the pitch through injury after 72 minutes.

It speaks volumes about Walker’s importance that Manchester City crumbled shortly after Pep Guardiola was forced to substitute him.

Despite that, we simply cannot agree with Bent.

You can see what the ex-Sunderland striker tweeted in full below.

It’s a bold claim, to say the least.

Liverpool have the best in Trent Alexander-Arnold

In our view, Alexander-Arnold is the best right-back on the planet, let alone just in England.

In the modern era, you have to be effective going forward as well as reliable at the back, and Walker just doesn’t make enough of an impact on Manchester City’s attacking play, in our view.

Not as much as Alexander-Arnold does for Liverpool, anyway.

In 336 Premier League appearances, Walker has 40 goal involvements to his name in the form of eight goals and 32 assists.

In Alexander-Arnold’s case, the Liverpool No.66 has only made 158 Premier League appearances, but has scored ten goals while also providing 45 assists.

The 23-year-old is capable of dictating the game from deep, and also doesn’t shirk his defensive responsibilities either.

No side has kept more clean sheets in the Premier League than Liverpool this season, who have recorded 21 shutouts in 34 games, and Alexander-Arnold has been a big part of that.

We respect Bent’s opinion, but on this occasion, we have to disagree.
