Alasdair Gold says Scott Munn was spotted at Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season tour of Australia, Thailand and Singapore, even though he ‘isn’t officially working for the club’.

The Football London journalist added that there are ‘issues’ with The City Group letting Scott Munn go – he has been Chief Executive Officer of City Football Group China since 2019 (Football-London).

The Englishman was set to start work on July 1, but the above has delayed all of that, yet he has been an ‘unexpected’ member of Tottenham’s pre-season tour this summer.

Tottenham expert and journalist Gold joked that he is ‘sure’ that Munn isn’t currently doing work behind-the-scenes, as he told his own YouTube channel.

There were a lot of changes at Spurs last season, from Antonio Conte getting sacked to transfer guru, Fabio Paratici, getting banned.

A club that was already in disarray was in further strife, with Gold sharing his thoughts on Munn.

“There were a few unexpected people,” said Gold. “Scott Munn was definitely out there. He went to all three countries, I am pretty sure.

“I certainly spotted him in Perth. Others spotted him in Thailand and Singapore, I think.

“He still isn’t officially working for the club. Still no start date, yet because of the issues from the City Group end and letting him go.

“I think he has family in maybe Melbourne and I also think he still has a family in China, so presumably, you could argue that he was moving around between both.

“I am sure he isn’t doing official work behind the scenes, at all,” added Gold as he raised his eyebrows.

Pressure on Daniel Levy heading into the new season

There were chants of ‘Levy out’ and ‘ENIC out’ during the previous campaign, and in truth, that won’t change much ahead of the upcoming season.

The Spurs chairman has brought in an attack-minded coach, the goalkeeping spot has been sorted and James Maddison has filled that playmaker void.

But general frustration fans, no new centre-backs yet and the growing fear that Harry Kane is Bayern Munich-bound will only boil the blood of the already-annoyed Spurs fanbase and there is only one man they will take it out on.
