Speaking on The Red Agenda Podcast, James Pearce has shared what he knows about Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino’s contract situations.
Mohamed Salah is the big story when it comes to contract renewals at Liverpool, but it shouldn’t be forgotten that two other key players are also out of contract in the summer of 2023 – Mane and Firmino.
According to Pearce, both parties are very relaxed about the situation and that they’re not overly concerned about what will happen.
What’s been said?
Pearce spoke about Mane and Firmino’s situations.
“Yeah, you have to remember it works both ways too. When I spoke to people close to Mane and Firmino and they both seemed very relaxed about the situation. The feedback from Mane’s camp was that there was nothing happening at that time but there was no hint of concern,” Pearce said.
“For players, once you get into your last year, it increases their negotiating power with other suitors. You get a lower fee and maybe a higher signing-on fee.”

No need to panic
Unlike the Mohamed Salah situation, Mane and Firmino’s future are of much less concern for Liverpool.
There has been no hint of negotiations hitting a standstill, and even if they do end up leaving, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are readymade replacements.
Mane and Firmino are very relaxed about the situation, and to be honest, they should be. No matter what happens they’ll go down as a pair of Liverpool legends, and if they are to go in the near future, they’ll leave with no ill-will or unfinished business.
Of course, Liverpool will hope to keep hold of their two stars, but there seemingly isn’t much cause for panic at the moment here.
