Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Liverpool could have Mohamed Salah available for selection for Thursday night’s Premier League match against Leicester City.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the German manager revealed that the 29-year-old attacker is back on Merseyside just two days after losing the Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal on penalties.
Salah’s attacking teammate, Sadio Mane, is yet to return from Cameroon after lifting the AFCON title for the first time in his nation’s history, with Klopp confirming that the Liverpool attacker will miss Thursday’s match.
The Reds will be looking to build from Saturday’s FA Cup win against Cardiff City as well as enact revenge on Leicester, who beat Liverpool earlier in the season. And the return of Salah is huge for Klopp’s side.
The Premier League manager said ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Leicester: “Mo is now back, I spoke already to him. He is very disappointed of course, but looking forward to all the things coming up here now. I spoke to him and pretty much the first thing Mo told me was: ‘I’m ready.’”
Klopp added: “He is an experienced player, he is a physical monster, to be honest, so we have to see. He will obviously have a little recovery session today and we will see how he feels tomorrow and from there we go.”
Salah return is massive for Liverpool’s clash against Leicester

After their 1-0 loss to the Foxes earlier in the season, Liverpool will be eager to get one over Brendan Rodgers side at Anfield, and the return of Salah will be a major boost for the Reds’ chances of victory against Leicester.
The Egyptian winger has been the best player in the Premier League this season, and his early return from AFCON heartbreak will be a welcome sight for many Liverpool supporters this Thursday against Leicester.
