For the first time this season, Arsenal are experiencing a blip.

The Gunners have picked up just one point in their last three games, and their grip on the title race is loosening week by week.

Mikel Arteta has never really been in this situation before in his managerial career, and he needs to figure out what he’s going to do next.

Luckily, the Spaniard has a good support network around him, and when speaking to The Telegraph, Robert Pires shared what he messaged Arteta after the loss to City this week.

Pires’ message to Arteta

The Frenchman shared what he told Arteta this week.

“I sent him [Arteta] a message by WhatsApp. I told him, ‘Mikel, it’s OK. We trust you. You have to keep your head up.’ We have to support him in these moments,” Pires said.

Stay positive

Pires’ message is spot on, Arteta has to keep his head up and stay positive from this point.

Yes, it’s demoralising to be dropping points in this fashion, but with a game in hand on City, Arsenal’s fate is still in their own hands.

Think about it, if someone told Arteta that he’d be level on points with City at the top of the league at this point of the season a few months ago, he’d have been over the moon.

Of course, expectations have now changed, but the reality is that Arsenal are still performing way above all expectations and are still in a great position to go on and win this league title.

Arteta and his squad need to stay positive despite a small slump.
