It has been claimed that Arsenal-linked attacker Gabri Veiga could snub a transfer to Arsenal in favour of a move to either Manchester City or Liverpool.

The Celta Vigo sensation, who £35 million release clause in his contract, according to 90 Min was keen on a switch to the Gunners due to two reasons as per a report in March; one being Mikel Arteta’s ability to nurture young players and the lure of living in London.

However, it seems like Arsenal could miss out on a transfer for Gabri Veiga, with Manchester City and Arsenal plotting a swoop for him.

Arsenal target Gabri Veiga could join either Manchester City or Liverpool

The 20-year-old is generating a lot of hype due to the impressive campaign he has had in La Liga, with nine goals and four assists to his name.

While Arsenal have been linked with a transfer for Gabri Veiga for the past couple of months, Bernabeu Digital journalists Javier Rubiano, Aitor Bris and Jorge Cascon have broken down how likely he is to join Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

“I think it’s quite clear about Gabri Veiga. He’s going to leave Celta this summer, no matter what. It’s something that his own president, Carlos Mourino has said,” Rubiano said.

He continued about Arsenal-linked midfielder Veiga either joining Liverpool or Manchester City, saying, “Now the question is to know where he is going. I would rule out Barça, no matter how hard he tries. In Real Madrid I see it very complicated. There was talk of Atleti too, but I doubt they’re going to spend £35 million on Veiga. I see him at Manchester City or Liverpool.”

“He wouldn’t play much here [Real Madrid], that’s the way it is. It will depend on what the player wants: to play or wear the shirt of the best team in the world.”

“Gabri Veiga to Real Madrid? I think it’s impossible, to be honest. When you have so many midfielders and your priority is [Jude] Bellingham?”, Cascon said.

While a transfer tug-of-war between Arsenal and Liverpool for Gabri Veiga could end up favouring the former, the same cannot be said about their prospects when it comes to competing with Manchester City.

The title race is far from over but after City clobbered Mikel Arteta’s side 4-1 on Wednesday, it seems the domestic crown could stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Furthermore, Pep Guardiola’s men are on course for a treble as well, while Arsenal are playing their first season in the Champions League since 2016, which makes it a bit of a no-contest for Gabri Veiga’s services.
