Kurt Zouma has claimed on West Ham’s Instagram live that he is ‘confident’ to say that he is quicker than his teammate Issa Diop.

West Ham have a fair bit of speed in their team, with Jarrod Bowen being able to accelerate passed many opponents, Said Benrahma able to carry the ball with speed and someone like Michail Antonio, to name a few.

Perhaps Bowen would think that he is the quickest in the team, but there’s no doubt that other West Ham players would have something to say about that.

But when Zouma was asked to name who is quicker between himself and Diop, he made it clear that ‘we need to race’, but he backed himself over the 24-year-old.

“I don’t know, but we need to race,” said Zouma. “I would say me. I am confident. I would say me.

“Even though this guy has got longer legs than me. But I say me.”

One thing is for sure, the Hammers will be coming up against an Everton side that, not only have speed in their ranks, but in-form players ready to march on.

Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray have been two outstanding performers during this early part of the campaign and they will be looking to get on the end of the oppositions shoulders today.

The Hammers have the chance to go level on points with sixth-placed Everton, if they can secure all three points at Goodison.

But equally, Rafa Benitez has the chance to move his team into the Champions League places after eight games of the campaign.

Either way, these are two teams hoping to finish in Europe in May, with David Moyes’s side already tasting that success last term.
