Tottenham Hotspur supporters will want Gareth Bale back now more than ever.

The Wales international scored two wonder goals in a World Cup playoff win over Austria on Thursday evening.

In February, Tuttomercatoweb reported that Tottenham already have an agreement in place to re-sign their legendary winger this summer, when his Real Madrid contract expires.

And no doubt that the Spurs fanbase were gushing over seeing their former player roll back the years with a match-winning display last night.

That’s exactly what Joe Ledley was doing on BBC Radio Wales.

Bale’s former international teammate lauded the 32-year-old attacker, describing his first goal – a ridiculous free kick – as simply unbelievable.

Ledley said: “Unbelievable that free-kick. I saw it in training when I played with him and he’s shown time and time again he can produce it in games. I’ve said it before, he’s due one and what a time to get it.”

Is Gareth Bale going back to Tottenham?

Well, that’s certainly what TMW suggested in February.

And honestly it wouldn’t be unthinkable.

After all, Daniel Levy was arguably the figure who brought him back to North London the last time, given that Jose Mourinho didn’t seem overly impressed by the player and used him rather sparingly.

And with Levy still being Tottenham chairman, it’s definitely plausible that the rumour from Italy is accurate.

However, Antonio Conte will not tolerate Levy overseeing the arrivals that he must work with, given that’s primarily Fabio Paratici’s job, so it remains to be seen whether the no-nonsense Italian manager is on board with Bale or not.
