Former Liverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella says that he saw great things for Harvey Elliott after the teenager joined the club in 2019.
In an interview with the Athletic, the 24-year-old Spaniard, who now plays for Nates in Ligue 1, revealed that he was impressed with the talent Elliott possessed after the youngster was signed by Liverpool from Fulham.
The 18-year-old England youth international is one of the brightest talents at the club. With Elliott starting the opening Premier League games of the season for Liverpool before the youngster dislocated his ankle.
Chirivella played with Elliott at U-23 level in 2019. With the duo playing for the senior side against Everton and Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup that season.
And for the Spanish midfielder, he saw the potential in the 18-year-old from an early age. With Chirivella lauding how impressive Elliott was on the ball for Liverpool at just 16.
The Nantes star said: “The day I saw him I saw a different player. He is so talented. From 16, he was playing with us (under-23s). And you could see he had an understanding of the game that was not normal for such a young player.
“He and Curtis are doing fantastic and I am so happy to see them at this level.”
Liverpool have a potential superstar on their hands in Elliott

With Elliott starting for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, it is clear that the Liverpool manager is a big fan of the teenager. And Chirivella’s comments confirm that the Reds have one heck of a talent on their hands.
Whilst Elliott is currently out injured until well into the New Year, there’s no question that the midfielder will be back amongst the Liverpool first team as soon as possible. And for the Reds, they have a player on their hands who could be part of the senior set-up for many years to come.
