Emmanuel Adebayor has posted on Instagram ‘I salute’ both Tottenham and Arsenal ahead of the north London derby on Thursday night.

The former striker, who played for both sides, added that it is ‘really difficult’ to pick who will come out on top, with Champions League football on the line.

If Arsenal walk away from Tottenham with three points, then Mikel Arteta would have guided the Gunners to a top-four finish.

But, either a point or a win for Spurs, then Antonio Conte would have dragged the race to secure Champions League football to the final week of the season.

Either way, this was the 30-word message Adebayor posted ahead of the game.

“An important North London derby night,” said Adebayor. “I salute both teams @arsenal @spursofficial.

“2 of my former teams meet tonight. Really difficult to pick a side. Who are you guys supporting?”

One of the biggest north London derby games in decades

From one controversial figure in north London to another in Sol Campbell, who has also had his say on this match.

The former defender, who controversially left Spurs and joined Arsenal on a free-transfer, thinks tonight’s game will ‘define careers’.

In every sense, finically, for the managers in the dugout, what they will be able to do in the summer transfer market, perhaps the future of their big-name players.

Whoever is playing Champions League football next season will have a serious advantage over their rivals, especially in the transfer market and the players they will be able to attract.
