Speaking on The Overlap, Gary Neville has, once again, been discussing Arsenal and the title race as we enter the business end of the season.
As many will know, Neville has been steadfast in his view that Arsenal will not be winning the Premier League title this season, backing Manchester City to pip them to the post.
Understandably, Neville has been getting a lot of stick as of late for his view as Arsenal continue to march on, and he’s now revealed a text he sent to the Sky Sports group chat after the Gunners beat Aston Villa two weeks ago.

Nevile shares text
The pundit shared what he text his colleagues after that Villa game.
“It’s interesting you say that. We have a group on Sky and they know that I’ve nailed my colours to the mast and said that City are going to win the league and I’ve been getting stick from Arenal fans.
“After the Villa game I was getting on the group ‘unbelievable win for Arsenal’ and I replied saying that ‘it’s all to desperate, too much emotion too early.’ It sounds daft this, but emotion in football when you’re playing and your that desperate is not a good thing.”
He knows
Neville says that emotion isn’t a good thing in a title race, and, to be honest, he’s bound to know better than most.
Indeed, Neville has been in this situation himself countless times during his playing career with Manchester United, and he knows the signs of when a team is going to get over the line.
Newcastle back in the mid 90s were the prime example of a team that let emotion get the better of them on the run in, and only time will tell if Arsenal are headed in that same direction.
