Several current and former footballers have reacted on Instagram to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signing a new contract at Arsenal, including the likes of Willian, Deco, Florent Sinama-Pongolle, Patrice Evra and Podolski.

For several months now, Arsenal fans have been waiting for the news that their star striker has committed his future to the club – and that was announced yesterday by the club on Twitter.

Willian wrote in the comments section of Aubameyang’s Instagram post: ‘Congrats bro’, added with fire emojis.

Former Arsenal favourite Lukas Podolski simply responded with clapping emojis, whilst ex-Chelsea and Barcelona playmaker, Deco responded in a similar fashion by saying ‘ace’.

Ex-Liverpool player, Sinama-Pongolle also wrote ‘Top class captain of the Gunners’. Whilst Evra added in a further Instagram post by Aubameyang: ‘@aubameyang97 @arsenal it’s your family too now. I really love that!!! Make them dream!!!’

This is seriously good news for Arsenal because it allows the fans to rest easy and potentially start dreaming about what they can achieve during these coming months.

With Aubameyang at their disposal, they are guaranteed goals, it’s just a case of the defence showing more bite and cutting out the mistakes.

Arsenal’s record transfer deals

  1. Nicolas Pepe

    £72 million

  2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    £56 million

  3. Alexandre Lacazette

    £52 million

  4. Thomas Partey

    45 million

  5. Mesut Ozil

    £42 million

If that can happen then, added with Mikel Arteta’s tactical awareness, the club will finally be pushing in the direction they have been craving to move towards for years – challenging for the Premier League title.

That will be way off their radar, at this moment in time, but securing Champions League football is something that is achievable.
