Alisson has declared his ‘love’ for working with a ‘top manager’ in Jurgen Klopp and shared what contributes to his relationship with the Liverpool boss, he told the Reds club website.

Klopp took the Brazilian to Anfield in the summer of 2018 when he raided Roma in a £67m deal while looking for a new goalkeeper. It made Alisson the most expensive shot-stopper in the world, for all of 21 days before Chelsea splashed £71m to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Of the two record-setting deals, Alisson’s move has worked out far more for Liverpool than Kepa has for Chelsea. The 29-year-old took the Merseyside natives to another level, whilst the Blues moved to replace their Spaniard with £22m Edouard Mendy after just two years.

Alisson has also helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, a Carabao Cup and the Fifa Club World Cup. While Chelsea lifted the Europa League with Kepa before clinching Champions League and Club World Cup honours with Mendy between the sticks.

Liverpool have never looked likely to look back on their decision to sign Alisson from Roma with any regret. They also rewarded his performances with a £150k-a-week contract last year amid a raft of renewals. His improved terms also lock the 51-cap star down to 2027.

Alisson hails the relationship he has formed with Klopp since moving from Roma and Serie A to the Premier League with Liverpool. The Brazilian also lauds what the German is like as a manager, for how Klopp looks to get the best out of his players both on and off the pitch.

“I really like the way he works and the way he makes the team feel comfortable and at the same time, puts pressure on us,” Alisson said. “He’s a guy who is always happy.

“But when you go onto the pitch, it’s hard work – serious work – and he’s a top manager. So, all those things contribute to a good relationship. I really love to be here and working with him. I love my life here at Liverpool.”
