It looks like a reported Tottenham Hotspur target is a fan of Arsenal.
Earlier this week it was reported that Spurs were keen on signing Paul Onuachu [The Daily Mail].
The colossal Genk hitman, who stands at 6’7, has netted 11 goals in all competitions this season and last term, scored four more than Harry Kane’s haul of 31 in North London.
If he does wind up joining the Lilywhites, Arsenal, their North London rivals, can tease their opposite numbers over the 27-year-old’s former comments.
During an interview in Belgium, the monstrous marksman, who plays for Nigeria at international level, has admitted that he ‘really likes’ the Emirates Stadium club – and particularly when Emmanuel Adebayor was on their books.
He said to Voetbal Nieuws in April: “I really like Arsenal. Adebayor, one of the players I admired the most, played there. I was a real fan of his, also of Kane. I also really like watching Arsenal.”
He’s needed
Despite Onuachu making his feelings about the Gunners abundantly clear, it won’t deter Tottenham obviously
Fabio Paratici, Spurs’ managing director, still needs to find a top-drawer striker in January.
When Kane has struggled this season, which has been for most of the campaign, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side just don’t score.
That highlights the need for a plan-b option and given Onuachu’s form since the start of last season, netting close to 50 goals, this would be a very interesting prospect.
This is someone who Tottenham need and it’ll be interesting to see if it does indeed happen, his Arsenal loyalties aside.
