Ian Wright has told the Kelly and Wrighty Show that he wants Harry Kane to score the winning goal for Tottenham against Manchester City today.

In the middle of this transfer saga surrounding Kane, both Spurs and Man City will kick off their Premier League campaigns in North London in a few hours time.

A lot of the talk will be about Kane and whether or not Nuno Espirito Santo will select the England captain in his matchday squad.

Kane isn’t fit enough to start because he only joined his Spurs teammates for pre-season on Friday, although a place on the bench hasn’t been ruled out.

Arsenal legend Wright is looking forward to the prospect of Kane featuring and he wants the goalscoring technician to do what he does best.

“Can you imagine? Harry Kane comes on against Man City,” said Wright. “The last 10 or 15 minutes, scores, they win the game and Man City lose the title by three points.

“And Harry Kane goes to (Man City). He has already cost them. It’s really weird.

“I want him to score the winner. I really want him to score the winner if he comes on.”

Footballing scripts are written for a reason and this one is going to play out in North London with a crowd present.

If Kane is in a position where it’s touch and go as to whether he can make the bench then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Nuno leaves him out altogether.

Not only does it cut the drama but then it also allows him to concentrate on matters on the field rather than noise off it.

Either way, this isn’t what Nuno expected to walk into when he was handed the keys of Spurs but it’s one he and those in the Spurs boardroom have to deal with now.
