Jose Enrique has claimed, from a Liverpool perspective, he really hopes Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City at the end of the season, as he posted on Twitter.

The Manchester City boss, who has been dubbed ‘one of the best’ by Enrique, has a contract that expires at the end of the season and there aren’t any talks currently about extending.

Now, that doesn’t mean Guardiola will head for the exit door, but more than likely, wait until the season is done and dusted before making a call.

The 51-year-old has had great success in English football for the past six years, winning four out of the five previous Premier League titles, including numerous FA Cups and League Cups.

It has been pure domination, and in truth, if it wasn’t for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, then it would have been pure perfection from the Abu-Dhabi-owned club.

Nonetheless, when Guardiola told Sky Sports that Man City will be in good hands the day he leaves, Enrique is hopeful that happens next summer.

“As a football fan myself, I will not like him leaving Manchester City because he is one of the best managers in the world and it’s great to have him in the Premier League,” said Enrique.

“But as a former Liverpool player and supporter, I really hope he goes at the end of the season because they will miss him.”

NO REASON WHY PEP WILL LEAVE

Unless Man City win the Champions League at the end of the season, then there is no reason why the former Barcelona man will leave because he will feel like he has unfinished business.

No team during the Premier League era has won three-in-a-row other than Manchester United, yet Man City can achieve that this season and then do the unthinkable of making it a historic four-in-a-row with Guardiola in the dugout.

Added with that, Erling Haaland recently signed for the club and he probably had some assurances that his manager will be here beyond this current campaign.

Either way, if Pep does indeed stay, then Man City will continue to hit 90+ points, and unless you produce super-human performances, then you won’t get near them.
