Leeds United fans on Twitter think Barry Douglas’ time at the club is up amid rumours that he could be heading for the exit door.
Leeds Live have claimed that the Scotsman could be the only senior player to leave Elland Road during this summer transfer window.
Douglas had been linked with a move to Celtic recently, as reported by the Daily Mail, and it will be interesting to see if the left-back does end up back in his homeland before Monday’s deadline.
There is a selection of Leeds fans who believe that he hasn’t lived up to expectations ever since his move to Yorkshire from Wolves.
Interestingly enough, when Wolves were promoted to the Premier League in 2018, Douglas was a key member of the squad that got them promoted, but he was allowed to drop back down to the second-tier upon their return to the big time.
It seems as though it’s a sense of Deja vu for the Glasgow-born player, who hasn’t been a regular under Marcelo Bielsa and has only played once this season.
Leeds United’s first six fixtures of 2020/21
- Liverpool (A)
September 12
- Fulham (H)
September 19
- Sheffield United (A)
September 26
- Manchester City (H)
October 3
- Wolves (H)
October 17
- Aston Villa (A)
October 24
It will be interesting to see if Celtic do push for his signature now because Greg Taylor could do with the competition in that area.
What’s even more interesting is that Neil Lennon is playing a 3-5-2 and Dallas’ strength is playing as a left-sided wing-back rather than an out-and-out left-back.
Not only that, at 31, he has valuable experience under his belt and the former Dundee United man understands what it’s like to ply your trade up north.
Either way, the Leeds faithful think that he will be leaving.
