Speaking on his podcast, Robbie Fowler has made an interesting claim about Liverpool and Everton this season.
The ex-Reds striker says that while he believes that Liverpool miss fans more than any club in world football, Everton are actually benefitting from the lack of supporters at the club.
Indeed, Fowler thinks that Everton fans would have gotten on the team’s back after poor performances, while Liverpool need the lift from their supporters.
“I think what Liverpool have missed more than any club in world football, Liverpool have missed fans more than anyone,” Fowler said.
“I really believe that, I think you look at Manchester United and Everton, teams who’ve done well without fans, I think if the fans are there and the fans are quick to have a go at times then you see different results.
“It was only at the start of the season that Ancelotti was not flavour of the month in the eyes of a lot of Everton fans, and if fans were at the game then the stick or the performances would have been highlighted even more, and from an Everton point of view, thankfully the fans weren’t there to get on the back of the manager and the back of the players.”
“You’re seeing the fruits because Everton are playing really well at the minute as well, so the fans won’t like this, but maybe they have benefitted a bit from not having the fans, whereas Liverpool have gone the other way.”

This is an interesting comment, but we can’t help but feel Fowler is being a bit harsh on Everton.
The Toffees won their first four games in the league this season, so we can’t understand the point he’s making about Ancelotti not being the flavour of the month at the start of the season.
Of course, Fowler is entitled to his opinion, and perhaps he’s got a negative view of Everton supporters due to his long-standing affiliation with Liverpool.
One thing is for sure, fans change the dynamics of a football match, and we’re sure every club can’t wait to have their supporters back.
